MAX HL 40 Series Swing-Speed Guide
Use measured driver swing speed as the initial fitting point for the 40g, 42g and 45g models. Tempo, transition, club length and head weight must also be considered before making a final selection.
The lightest and softest MAX HL configuration, intended as the starting point for golfers with driver speeds of 65 mph and below.
A lightweight regular-flex profile for golfers who fall within KBS’s published 65–72 mph driver swing-speed range.
The most supportive 40 Series configuration, designed for golfers with driver swing speeds in the published 73–80 mph range.
Important: KBS publishes these specific speed ranges for
the MAX HL 40 Series. The heavier 50g, 52g and 55g models should be selected
through complete fitting rather than assigning an unverified speed range.

Installation and Trimming
MAX HL is supplied as an uncut component shaft. Proper preparation, trimming and installation are essential to achieving the intended result.
Driver Builds
Confirm the clubhead or removable adapter accepts a .335-inch parallel tip. Adapter choice, insertion depth, head weight and finished playing length will affect the final club.
Fairway-Wood Builds
Fairway-wood installations may require application-specific tip trimming. Review the current KBS parallel-shaft trimming instructions and clubhead requirements before making any permanent cuts.
Builder’s note: Complete required tip trimming before
installation. Butt trimming to final playing length is completed after
accounting for the clubhead, adapter or hosel insertion depth. Cutting,
sanding and installation are permanent modifications.
